#EndInsecurityNow: 4 protesters arrested in Kano by the DSS
Four leaders of the pan-Arewa socio-political organisation, the Coalition of Northern Group, have been arrested in Kano on Friday by operatives of the Department of State Services while protests against insecurity and bad governance was going on.
Leaders of the Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) arrested by teh DSS were Nastura Sharif, Balarabe Rufai, Aminu Adam and Muhammad Nawaila.
The Group’s leaders were reportedly invited by the DSS in Kano where they were detained.
The Group’s leaders says, “The #EndInsecurityNow protests against the rampant killings in Northern Nigeria and displacement of hundreds of communities has come under intense pressure and intimidation in the last few hours by the DSS which is hell-bent on suppressing the tearful voice of northerner.
The CNG leader says the invitation led to a meeting that lasted from 11pm on Friday to 2.15am on Saturday.
Mallam Suleiman, speaking in Abuja, announced that the protests with the hashtag #EndInsecurityNow, scheduled for major cities in all the 19 Northern States followed the trend of insecurity and other challenges in the Northern region.
The protests was targeted at ensuring that the attention of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, and governors of the 19 Northern states is drawn to the plight of the region concerning insecurity.
