Man electrocuted while stealing transformer cable in Lagos
One Kabiru Ismaila, suspected to be into the business of vandalizing public facilities has been electrocuted while allegedly in the act of stealing transformer cables installed in the Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro reported that the victim and suspected vandal had led a team of hoodlums to Owu Ikosi Street in Agbowa for the purpose of stealing transformer jumper cables and other power accessories installed to supply power to the community.
The victim was reported to have been electrocuted while in the process of trying to carte away the cables.
Eye-witness report says that as soon as the victim was electrocuted, the other members of the team ran away from the scene.
About eight of the hoodlums have been arrested so far.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests, adding that the command had commenced further investigation.
The Head of Corporate Communications of Ikeja Electric, Felix Ofulue, confirmed the incident, urged residents to protect electric facilities in their areas. He also added that their facilities have been under constant attack.
