Police arrests Kano housewife who killed two children
A team of detectives from the Kano State Police Command has on Saturday, arrested one Hauwa Habibu, who allegedly killed her two biological children in Kano.
The housewife was said to be 26-year old lived in who lives in Diso quarters, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano.
Spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, made this disclosure on while briefing members of the public said the housewife attacked and killed her two children, six-year-old Irfan Ibrahim and three-year-old Zuhura Ibrahim 3th October 2020. The police was reported to have received a report concerning the incidence at about 11:30 am of the same day.
In addition to killing her two children, Kiyawa claimed that Hauwa also injured her nephew, 10-year-old Aisha Sadiq, before fleeing the scene.
On receiving the report, the state Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani, had reportedly ordered a team of detectives to comb the metropolis and arrest the fleeing Habibu, within 24 hours.
When the team got to the scene of the incident and took the children to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, the doctor on duty confirmed the two children dead while the third victim was taken to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where she was treated and later discharged.
The suspect has since confessed to attacking the victims with machete and an aluminium-made pestle.
Sahara Reporters report that a discussion with family members reveals that the suspect may have kiled the children because her husband was planning to take a second wife.
