2015 Elections: Jonathan forgives Shagari’s son for working against him
Former President Goodluck Jonathan says he has forgiven the son of former President Shehu Shagari, Aminu, for working against him during the 2015 Presidential election.
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan says he has accepted the apology via a post he made on Facebook acknowledging Aminu’s public apology.
Goodluck Jonathan said since the elections, he never took offense and is not known to bear grudges against people. He says he has no enemies to fight.
Aminu, is a three-term House of Representatives member, had recently publicly apologized to Jonathan for the role he played he ensuring that he lost his bid for a second term in office as President. He had defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he supported the party’s candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who won the 2015 Presidential election.
The apology by Aminu is based on what he described as Buhari’s inability to effectively tackle some of Nigeria’s challenges.
He further stated that the only hope for the development of Nigeria is the enthronement of Good Governance that only credible leadership could provide to the country.
