Man in Adamawa writes to DSS, police on alleged wife abduction
One Istifanus Umaru, has petitioned the police, Department of State Services, and the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, over the abduction of his wife by a Fulani man whom, according to him is bent on terminating their marriage.
Istifanus Umaru is christian married to a Muslim Fulani wife, a marriage he believes the muslim fulani man considers a taboo.
Umaru is currently seeking the intervention of the state government to help protect his marriage of four years from Mr. Bakari whom he reported to have openly made threats to unleash fulani militia to bring his marriage to an end.
In the petition sent by Mr. Umaru, Bakari has told that he had the authority of the muslim council of the state as well as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to intervene in the marriage.
Mr. Umaru says that Bakari had severally threatened him with violence and other forms of intimidation because he considers the marriage as an aberration. He also said that Bakari cited the case of several “violent clashes between farmers and herders, stressing that the Fulani race was ready to end my marriage at all costs”.
