Invite Chadian army, you can’t fight Boko Haram alone — Zulum begs Buhari
Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, is urging Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari request the assistance and corporation of the Chadian Army in the fight against insurgency ravaging the Northeastern part of Nigeria.
Recall that persons suspected to be members of the Boko Haram insurgence have attacked his convoy twice in the past one week.
Regardless of the frequent wave of attack on his convoy in recent times. he Governor has said that he remains deterred and will not relent on his efforts at discharging the duties of his Office.
While receiving members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Zulum made a plea to the President to seek ways of collaborating with the Chadian Army to ensure that the fight for the fight against Boko Haram Succeeds.
He insisted that there is no single Army in the world that has succeeded in quelling insurgency added that such a collaboration will not undermine the Nigerian Army that it will rather enhance the outcomes of the fight.
He also complained of the severity of the situation in the state while encouraging the people of the State to continue to endure and commit to peaceful Borno State.
He also highlighte the extent to which the Chad basin has lost its capacity to impact the economy of Borno State. About 10 million people used to be employed across the Chad Basin value chain while the Sambisa Grazing Reserve and the Mandara Mountains used to employ about 3 million people. He expressed disappointment that all those have been lost since the insurgents commenced operation in the area making it inaccessible to the people.
