I was once a plumber – Lagos Governor
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday said he worked as a plumber about 30 years ago.
The Governor made this public while addressing graduating students at numbering 6,252 at a skill acquisition centre that trains young people in 18 skills in the state.
The Governor used the opportunity to advise the graduating students to use their skills they have learnt from the training over time to start to become employers and not employees. He asked them to create a future for themselves with their skills and competences and not wait for government to provide jobs for them.
The Governor also promised them support and assistance in their entrepreneurial journey in the state.
Several vocational training skills were taught the students through they were undergoing training in the various vocational training centers. Many of the vocational skill areas include hairdressing and cosmetology, catering and hotel management, computer training, barbing, textile design, hat making and bead stringing, shoe making/leather works, fashion design and dress making.
