Edo Elections: I never begged Obaseki to return to APC — Ize-Iyamu

The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress last week’s governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has debunked claims in the media that, he begged his rival and Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to return to the APC.

Recall that a number of media platforms had in the past few weeks reported that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu appealed to Obaseki to return to the party after Saturday’s victory.

However, a statement has come from Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s Campaign Organisation denying such a report. In a statement signed by the organisation’s Director of Communication and Media, John Mayaki, said the APC candidate only attended a meeting in Abuja where he met with other party faithfuls.

Mr. John Mayaki urged media organizations to verify news and happenings before making any formal report public.

The PUNCH Newspaper has since officially announced it apologies for the misinformation.
