Bauchi Flood: 25 persons dead, 3,500 houses destroyed, nearly N1billion farmland lost– Gov
At least 25 people are confirmed dead and 22 others currently receiving treatment after the floods that occurred across Bauchi State.
This information was made public by the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, during the visit of the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Mohammed, on Wednesday.
The NEMA chief stated the over 2000 farms were washed away by the flood and this would signal not very good outcomes for food security in Nigeria in the coming year.
He also added that the number of farms destroyed by the flood are estimated at N950 million.
During the visit, the Governor asked that the Federal Government increase its capacity to mitigate or prevent flooding and other natural disaster in the country.
On a related note, NEMA ask warned the Abia State Government to take precautionary measures against an impending flood.
