Ondo Election: fire outbreak wont stop the Oct 10th election data – INEC
The Akure, Ondo State Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Friday emphasized that the inferno that affected parts of their office in the state will not make it shift the already scheduled governorship election from the October 10 date.
The fire incident occurred at the computer section of the office of the commission on Thursday evening, destroyed some electoral materials, particularly the card reader machines procured for the forthcoming election. INEC assured electorates that the necessary replacement for the damaged materials have been procured to enable the elections happen as scheduled.
The Residents Electoral Commissioner in the state, Ambassador Rufus Akeju said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained but investigations were ongoing to to unravel the cause.
