Breaking: Lagos Schools Resume September 14, Governor Declares
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Governor, has announced that schools will reopen with effect from September 14.
He made this announcement during a press briefing in the state house that all state owned tertiary institutions will be allowed to reopen from September 14 , 2020.
Sanwo- Olu also noted that after the WASSCE , primary and secondary schools in the state would also be permitted to reopen from September 21 , 2020 for the resumption of academic activities.
He however declared that the the government’s position is not cast in stone and that it is subjected to a review from the ongoing monitoring and procedures from the Ministry of Health .
He explained that the government had earlier said that the virus will peak and we will flatten the curve in the month of August, so from what have been seen, it appears that the curve has been flattened, because in the last two weeks , Lagos has continued to see a drop in the positivity that it used to encountered.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control as of Friday night , Lagos has recorded 18 , 083 infections including 2 , 653 cases on admission , 15 , 228 discharged patients , and 202 fatalities .
