Abia Governor Sacks Council Chairmen, Commissioner, Gives No Reason
Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has sacked the Transition Committee Chairmen of Aba North (Victor Ubani); Aba South (Cherechi Wogu) and Umunneochi (Mathew Ibe). He also relieved Commissioner of Transport, Ekele Nwaohammuo, of his duties.
Anthony Agbazuere, the Governor Chief of Staff made this known through a statement yesterday without stating any reason for the Governors action.
However a source told newsmen that the sacks could be connected to gross-misconducts and anti-parth activities of those concerned.
Also, General Manager of Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency of Abia State (TIMAAS) Bright Ikeokwu was among those relived of their duties.
The governor has with immediate effect approved the appointment of Ezechikamnayo as Transition Committee Chairman Nominee for Umuneochi, while Tony Nwanmuo and Godswill Nwonoruo have been sent to the House of Assembly as Commissioner-nominees.
While the deputy chairmen of the affected councils has also been ordered to take over the office and together with their Heads of Service, they should set up a taskforce to check environmental indiscipline and other vices.
