Osinbanjo's Report: 'Stop Counting Figures, Save People From Losing Their Jobs' NLC Charges FG
The leader of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba has hit back at the report which said that over 39 million people will lose their job by end of this year in Nigeria that government should rather take full responsibility instead of causing painc.
The NLC President said this while reacting to the report submitted to President Buhari by Yemi Osinbanjo, the Vice President on the Post Covid-19 Economic Plan which stated that about 39 million will be unemployed by end of 2020 if adequate measures is not taken.
He said the government should come up with innovative ways to curb the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
He further stated that as the country identify and agree that there are challenges, which may affect workers, especially the fact there has been disruption in the production lines due to a prolonged lockdown, quick action must be taken.
Wabba emphasized that unemployment issue comes with the issue of insecurity. By parading these figures, it means government is giving way for extremists to come in and undermine the entire social service of our country.
As regards to the figure, he declared that, the labour movement are not aware of the figure, and that there is a department of research which the labour have used to check the record, and the figure is not empirical in their findings.
‘‘People should stop parading figures, we should work together and save jobs, and create more jobs’’. He concluded.
