"Records of his admission and graduation are intact" – UI Confirms Obaseki's Certificate
The University of Ibadan(UI) on Wednesday confirmed that Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, earned a degree in Classics.
The University made the clarification in response to allegations that Obaseki, who is running for a second term in office in September, did not obtain a first degree at the university.
But Mr Obaseki actually gained admission in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division, the university said in a statement on Wednesday.
Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi, the University’s registrar pointed that information regarding the admission and graduation of Obaseki remain intact in the archives of the university.
Recall that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Mr Adams Oshiomhole, had earlier raised suspicion on the legitimacy of Obaseki’s UI certificate.
The two, once cordial, have been engaged in a long-running conflict that has defied resolution even as the state’s September 19 governorship election approaches.
