Oyo Commissioner Dies At 55, Governor Mourns
The Commissioner for Environment in Oyo State , Kehinde Ayoola , has bided the world farewell after a brief illness.
Ayoola, who was one time Speaker , Oyo State House of Assembly , was said to had been sick for some time before his death on Thursday.
The former representative of Oyo East / West State Constituency between 1999 to 2003 under the Alliance for Democracy , was Speaker between 1999 and 2003 , during the administration of late Lam Adesina.
He was appointed as Commissioner for Environment following Governor Seyi Makinde’ s inauguration in 2019.
Under his watch as the Environment Commissioner, the Oyo State Government inaugurated four environmental tribunals for the enforcement of the state environmental laws.
Reacting to the sad news, Governor Makinde said: “I received with deep sadness, the news of the death of my dear friend and colleague, Rt. Honourable Kehinde Ayoola. Up until his death this morning, he served as the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources in Oyo State.”
“I met the late Rt. Honourable Ayoola in 2002, when we worked together as members of the Fortune Group for the election of Senator Rasheed Ladoja. He also served as the Director-General for my 2015 campaign and the Deputy Director-General for my 2019 campaign.”
“He was a loyal friend with a dedication to duty that cannot be questioned. He will be sorely missed for his great oratory skills and his love for the people of Oyo Town and Oyo State. May his soul rest in peace.”
“Rt. Hon. Ayoola will be remembered for his altruistic service to Oyo State since his emergence on the political turf in 1999,” the governor said.
The late Ayoola , a graduate of Animal Science and Environmental Management and Control, Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile – Ife , and married to a Professor of Agronomy , was a member , Association of Environmental Impact Assessment of Nigeria. He died at the age of 55.
