COVID-19: Kano is in trouble – Gov. Ganduje admits
The Governor of Kano State, Governor Ganduje has admitted that they went about the issue of the COVID-19 in the wrong way.
The Governor made this statement on the occasion of the official delivery of a mobile testing centre donated by the Dangote Foundation. The donated testing facility has capacity to test 400 per day.
The Governor admitted that the State went about their response to the COVID-19 on a shaky foundation and lacked many of the things that are required to put up a good response to the pandemic.
He added that at the beginning of the crises, samples needed to be taken to Abuja to get results. These would take up to 7 hours or more to take the samples to Abuja and another 7 hours or more to return with the results.
Things began to change when the Governor made an appeal to the President, Muhammadu Buhari, for the set up of a testing facility in Kano. It took only days or a few weeks to have a Testing Centre at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital which now carries out many tests.
Recall that Kano has recorded the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country with 342 patients. insinuations had gone on in the media that
